Happy September!
Happy September, everyone!
I have moved to New York City, y’all! I am so thrilled about this move. It has already been so transformative and I can tell I am about to go through a huge emotional and mental growth spurt. Each of these calendars represents a different part of the city I love or something I am looking forward to! Their stories are included underneath.
Important dates for September:
9/19: Talk Like a Pirate Day
9/10: Suicide Prevention Day
9/11: Patriot Day
9/22: First Day of Autumn

This is an image of Prospect Park in Brooklyn. I just moved to a new apartment in Prospect Park South, a neighborhood between the park and Historic Flatbush. It is truly such a special place to be in the city. I spent my first two weeks in New York in an apartment in Times Square, so the move to this more residential area has been a breath of fresh air. I am looking forward to spending fall in a place I can watch the leaves change.
This one is inspired of course by the Subway stations in NYC. I have been so pleasantly surprised by all of the intricate tile work in the stations. Some just simply say the street name while others include fun designs, silly motifs, or iconic imagery. I am looking forward to seeing how many more stations I get to stop at and pass through during my time in the city. I hear some of the stations even have sculptures and other art!
I can already feel the weather starting to get cooler. My roommate, KA, said she read somewhere it’s going to be an early winter this year. While I am not a huge fan of the cold, I am a fan of fall and winter fashion. These calendars are dedicated to all the plaid and fall-color fabrics we are about to start seeing again. I can’t wait to pull out my scarves and coats (but come back in a few months and watch me eat my words).
I love the colors of the trees in alabama in the fall, but I am eager to see the fall foliage in New York. I have been to NYC in the fall before, so I know how beautiful it can be, but to get to watch it unfold across weeks and months will be unlike what I’ve experienced before. There is still so much time for late summer in September, so these calendars are an ode to the last bits of summer that melt into fall.
